CUBA – 90 Miles Away, A World Apart

The juxtaposition of being so close to the United States geographically yet so far apart culturally and politically was the most intriguing perspective I’ve had while traveling. It was intoxicating honestly. Such a different way of life on this rebellious island in the Caribbean. I wrote this piece after visiting Cuba for 11 days in 2017, so the Cuban travel restrictions have tightened significantly  but it is worth the effort to visit.
I wanted to give the piece a National Geographic style format – as it would appear in a magazine – so please expand the Issuu embed below and enjoy! You can also print it off and read it (just add a blank page at the front and print double sided)! Enjoy! – Lane
