Finishing a Dream Project – Acueducto Baja Springs to Life

It’s hard to catch up to really.

That feeling that something I’ve imagined and worked so hard for, is now a reality.

It exists.

My personality is to intensely focus on an idea and project. To sink into it and dive deeply. The past four years of my life have been free dive after free dive into the depths of creating a Mexican hospitality venue. Of having a childhood dream, being presented with the opportunity, and sacrificing a lot of ‘life plans’ in dedication to the project. So it does make sense to me, that ‘believing’ it is real and complete, might take some time. Maybe I’m in the phase of a safety stop in SCUBA terms – holding for a few minutes before resurfacing. Taking inventory of the challenges faced, the personal growth required to deal with failures, and the insight, wisdom, and experience gained.

It’s a large emotional thing – heavy in reflection to see how different my life has become in the past several years. Shedding different versions of myself, becoming more comfortable in my own skin, moving internationally, feeling the financial strain and also understanding and owning my decisions to bring me to this point. There’s a lot of layers to the whole thing.

The reality I’m catching up with (and helpful to type out and say to myself) is that Acueducto is a real, functioning luxury vacation home. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms make it super comfy to host up to 14 guests. It’s a place built by family, for families. It has a magical realism story that spans seven generations and has been incorporated into the physical architecture and curated art. It is a special and unique piece of architecture. A work of art. It is fully off-grid – ran from solar power and has an advanced wastewater treatment system (which I loved designing).Ā  The project partnered with THUMA – a San Francisco based furniture and home goods company – to serve as Acueducto’sĀ  bedroom furniture and luxury linens partner. Guests will have amazing nights’ sleep and enjoy the textures and quality of Thuma’s products throughout the experience. This partnership made the project’s final form possible. To have the investment of a major brand, made the project more and more real during the construction. ‘Woah, they are interested and invested… I gotta knock it out!’

To the many people who’ve helped out in small ways and big: I’m so grateful! Soon, guests will fill the walls with laughter, alignment, joy, grief, peacefulness, and adventure. It is a place to bring your authentic selves and channel what’s most important in the moment.

So here is to a new chapter!

Of marketing, promotion, operations, and sales. Of getting the chance to dive into other parts of the business world and to enjoy offering unique hospitality experiences for friends, families, retreats, and wonderful people all over the world. To share Baja’s magic, wonder, and landscapes in the most respectful and intentional way possible. To continue to work hard to deliver unforgettable memories and Baja nights. Acueducto has it’s flaws and imperfections – but few people other than me will ever notice. Cheers to that! šŸ™‚
